If you're struggling to balance the demands of work and family life, even keeping everyone else balanced and happy at the cost of your own emotional and physical well-being, you are not alone! I can totally empathize with your situation as the continual struggle of being pulled from one place to another, constantly running on empty led to my eventual burnout from the fast-paced city life I had become accustomed to. ​ It was a few years ago when I knew that my body and mind had reached their limit; I knew that I was at a breaking point from my stressful city job, somewhere in my life it was time to make a change, but what would I change? I had always had a passion for helping people, working with animals and being drawn to all things 'woo woo' as my husband likes to say! (He is now fully converted to Reiki may I add - and so are my four cats!). Vibrational energy is powerful - I would always be able to walk into a room and sense that the energy of the room was off, or vibrating high, and sense things were about to happen before they did(!) but how could I convert this passion for feeling energy into something more? A few months later, the decision was taken away from me. I kept being shown signs that this was not my path to continue on - My physical health was now in serious decline , leaving me in constant pain. I was subsequently diagnosed with a rare medical condition affecting my ability to walk. After trying every sort of pharmaceutical pain medication my GP could prescribe , and no longer being able to sleep due to the constant pain of my condition, I now had to stop working to allow for some respite for the constant pain I was now struggling with daily. ​ It was after a suggestion from a good friend of mine amidst a particularly horrific flare to my condition, that she suggested I should look into holistic pain management; I certainly had nothing to lose, it was worth giving it a go. ​ Two fabulous Reiki Practitioners and an A cupuncture Practitioner later, I started my own healing journey; I can hand on heart say that this suggestion from my good friend changed my life and it became the turning point in my road to recovery. I will still live with the condition I was diagnosed with, but I now understand why the condition became so unstable. I also have all of the holistic tools now in place to help me when I do feel a flare-up coming on. ​ I still see the Acupuncture Practitioner regularly to keep on top of my condition and use Usui Reiki daily - not only is this a fantastic way to keep my internal organ function in tip-top condition, but it also helps to keep my mental health balanced.
