The 'Hamsa' hand is a universal sign of protection, power and strength.  The word “Hamsa” means “five,” and represents the five fingers of the right hand.  Known as the 'Hand of Fatima' in Islam and 'Hand of Miriam' in Judaism, for Hindus and Buddhists, it symbolizes the chakras and energy flow around body and the five senses and 'Mudras' (gestures + attitudes) that affect them.
